Two unidentified men are safe after being rescued from a burning small pleasure boat in the Barnegat Bay late Monday afternoon. Coast Guard Petty Officer First Class Nick Ameen said the men were spotted by a Good Samaritan near the west end of the Double Creek Channel in Barnegat Light and taken on their boat until the Coast Guard arrived.

Ameen said Sea Tow transported the two men off the Good Samaritan's vessel to the Coast Guard station in Barnegat Light. He said one of the men was taken to the hospital by EMS when he arrived.

The boat was still in the channel as of early Monday night. Ameen said area boaters were warned that the vessel had run aground in the area of Double Creek Channel.
