Utility pole repair keeps stretch of Pine Beach road closed until midnight

Access to Ocean Gate from Pine Beach remains limited until around midnight while utility crews repair a pole that was sheared off in a morning one-car crash.

According to Pine Beach PD Sergeant James York, Prospect Avenue is off-limits for a block, between Cedar and Station Avenues. Prospect is a well-traveled back-road entry point to County Road 617 south of Station Avenue.

Route 9 to Ocean Gate Boulevard is a handy nearby alternative.

A car apparently veered out of control while negotiating a turn. The driver survived, according to the Sergeant, but no other details were available.

The crash did not create any long-term impacts on electric power in the area.
