Good morning!

If you haven't watched the video below, we would encourage you to watch it. Watch it with both eyes open though. With one eye, watch it from the perspective of the victim's family. With that eye it is easy to see a young man who seemingly did nothing more than be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is easy to see yet another example of everything that's broken in urban settings across our country. It's sad. With the other eye now, watch it from the perspective of the officers. See that they were summoned to a convenience store by a citizen claiming there was an armed man threatening to use violence. See that in a moment of craziness, decisions are made that change (or end) lives in an instant. Decisions that we ask our law enforcement to make every day. They don't get them all right...nor do any of us. The difference is, when they mess up, it's on video and can be deadly. With that eye ask yourself if that's a career that you would have chosen or would choose for your kids. With that eye see that we're glad our police force is on the beat every day maintaining order in a world that often threatens to become disorderly. It's sad. I'm saddened by what happened in Baton Rouge, saddened from many angles.
