Information given by Walmart indicates that in 2015, more than 4,300 workers in New Jersey were given promotions with higher pay and more responsiblities and more than 1,900 transitioned from part-time to full-time status.

Veterans have an inside track. Walmart says it will offer jobs to any eligible U.S. veteran, honorably discharged, since the onset of its Veterans Welcome Home Commitment on Memorial Day 2013.

The Careers With A Mission portal on its web page has an application form exclusively for men and women who served in the military. The company says it hired more than 120,000 veterans nationwide in the past three years.

No New Jersey stores were placed on the list of 154 installations that Walmart is closing throughout 2016.
