It's like something you'd expect to see on the television show America's Funniest Home Videos. A driver struggled with a deer that jumped into her SUV in Howell, after the animal was struck by the vehicle, and it was all caught on tape by a Township officer.--

Patrolman Nicholas Austin was traveling on Oak Glen Road on September 17, 2016, while responding to a call for service, when he saw a deer cross the road from right-to-left several hundred feet in front of him, according to Public Information Officer Detective Sgt. Christian Antunez.

Unable to determine if a GMC Envoy travelling in front of him had struck the deer, Austin pulled over to assist the driver. Antunez said that's when the same deer that 43-year-old Ellen Sager of Howell had just struck, ran back across the road, from left-to-right, and tried to jump into her SUV as she opened the door.

Sager was still inside and physically struggled with the large deer as it tried to climb over her, but Antunez said she was able to kick the deer out and quickly close the door.

He said Sager suffered a minor knee injury in the scuffle. The deer died from injures it suffered from the impact of the vehicle.
