Mayor John Ducey's campaign on social media is designed to promote civic pride and a greater sense of community in Brick, an initiative he recently unveiled during the Township's Annual Reorganization Meeting.

"Everybody here is definitely proud of our town, but there seems to be some outsiders and even some people who live in Brick who aren't as proud. They don't realize how great our town is, so we wanted to kick off our #BrickProud program," said Ducey.

Ducey is encouraging residents to take photos of things that make them proud to live in Brick, such as the municipal reservoir, Windward Beach, the oceanfront, a local restaurant, or a sporting or academic event.

"We just really want to have our pride of Brick Township and show the rest of the state, and the rest of the country and the rest of the world just how great Brick Township is," Ducey said.

Ducey is essentially the first elected leader of an Ocean County community to consider the benefits of using social media beyond just issuing municipal or police emergency alerts.

"We just really utilize it because there's so many people on social media now, and it's a quicker way to get the word out," said Ducey.

Ducey added that plans are in the works to promote #BrickProud, including photo and selfie contests, video contests and more.
