Can someone explain to me the logic of wearing clothes to match the calendar but not the weather?

It’s going to reach into the 80’s the rest of this week but I’m going to see people wearing fall-like clothes that go with temperatures 20 degrees cooler.  I saw quite a few women wearing boots Monday which to me seemed almost strange considering the weather.  That’s why I keep a full selection of shorts in my closet through October and I’m wearing them today.  I’ll be comfortable while others sweat, some because they are wearing sweaters.

So the government is in shut-down mode and some 800,000 government workers are expected to at best work half a day today.  I thought that was a typical day for most of them anyway.  Seriously while essential personnel will still be on the job like air traffic controllers, a shutdown will impact some things right away like national parks which will be closed as will the Smithsonian museums and National Zoo in Washington.

Actually it appears the zoo in Washington will remain open and we can watch the monkeys argue with as always our elected representatives more concerned about their political party then the people they are supposed to represent.  That by the way goes for both sides.

Homeland, The Blacklist, Hostages, Grey’s Anatomy, Blue Bloods, Chicago Fire, The Good Wife, Parenthood, Boardwalk Empire.  Between the DVR and On Demand getting these TV shows is not a problem but finding the time to watch them is.  Throw in football and the baseball playoffs and it’s a real dilemma.  Plus there’s Revenge, Betrayal, Modern Family and a bunch of new shows I’d like to at least try.

Speaking of those baseball playoffs, Todd Frazier and the Cincinnati Reds visit the Pirates in Pittsburgh tonight in the National League wild card game.  If the Reds win then Frazier is on his way to St. Louis for the Division Series which would begin Thursday.  A loss and he returns to Toms River for a longer off-season then he would like.

Registration for the Pine Beach Basketball League takes place this week and next for boys and girls in 2nd grade all the way through High School.  Practices begin in November and league games will run through March at Toms River Intermediate South and Pine Beach Elementary School.  For more information call (732) 581-1758.
