The field of 144 pros includes 46 of the top 50 players on the current money-winning list and 7 past champions, a group headed up by defending champion and two-time winner Stacy Lewis.  The 54-hole event will be featured on the Golf Channel all weekend with coverage today from 1-3:30pm.  The South Jersey event is the fourth longest-running, non-major tournament on the LPGA schedule as this is the 27th time it’s been held in Atlantic County.

The Pinelands Regional softball team goes after its first-ever state sectional championship this afternoon at home against Delsea.  The 3rd seeded Wildcats have wins over Oakcrest, Hammonton and Triton on their way to the South Jersey Group 3 championship game in Tuckerton (4pm).

Meanwhile Donovan Catholic will have their hands full in the South Jersey Non-Public A semifinals.  Ranked 19th in the state the Griffins of Coach Debbie Schwartz travel to Lawrence Township to take on 3rd ranked Notre Dame.  Pinelands and Donovan Catholic are the last two Ocean County teams left still playing in any of the spring team sports.

History is on the side of the New York Rangers, who host Tampa Bay tonight in the 7th and deciding game of their wild Eastern Conference Final series.  That history is largely due to goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who has won his last six Game 7’s and allowed a total of just five goals in those six games.  The Rangers have also won 15 of the last 18 games they have played in which they faced elimination from the playoffs.

However you have to factor in that the Rangers have lost two of the three games in this series at Madison Square Garden and Lightning goalie Ben Bishop has allowed just four goals in those three games, including a shutout last Sunday.  The winner moves into the Stanley Cup Finals next Wednesday against either Anaheim or Chicago who play a deciding 7th game in California Saturday night.
