Area Men Used Postal Service for Pot

Monmouth County law enforcement officials seize almost 20 pounds of marijuana and arrest four Colts Neck men Monday as part of a month-long investigation. Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni said Blake Lombardi, 22, Robert Lombardi, 60, Ronnie Rehim, 21 and Jason Lopiccolo, 21 were arrested as part of a scheme where they allegedly had packages of marijuana delivered to them using the U.S. Postal Service.

Gramiccioni said the probe uncovered a number of packages containing suspected marijuana addressed to a Colts Neck residence and a search turned up several more packages inside the residence. Investigators also found drug paraphernalia, U.S. currency and counterfeit U.S. currency.

The suspects are charged with second degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana in Excess of Five Pounds, second degree Conspiracy to Possess Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and fourth degree Possession of Marijuana over 50 Grams.

Blake Lombardi was released after posting $50,000 bail, as set by Colts Neck Municipal Court Judge Richard B. Thompson, J.M.C. Robert Lombardi, Rehim and Lopiccolo were released on their own recognizance. However, each of the suspects faces state prison terms of between five and ten years on each of the second degree counts. They also face a state prison term of up to 18 months on the four degree charge.

The investigation was conducted by the prosecutor’s office Narcotics Strike Force, the United States Postal Inspector’s Office and Colts Neck Police Department.
