The New Jersey Devils are expected to announce the retirement of Matrin Brodeur's No. 30 at a press conference Tuesday.

NorthJersey.com reports the 43-year-old, who played 20 seasons with the Devils, will be at the Prudential Center for the announcement along with co-owner Josh Harris. The Devils Facebook page is promoting a special announcement with Brodeur and the entire current Devils team but no details.

"Marty and I came into the league together. We played a full season in the AHL with the Utica Devils and played our first NHL game together," former Devil Jim Dowd, told New Jersey 101.5. "Marty always came to the rink with a smile on his face and just loved playing the game. Never missed practice and just a great guy."

Dowd and Brodeur were also on the Devils team that won the 1995 Stanley Cup championship. The Devils won three championships with Brodeur in goal.

Brodeur signed with the St. Louis Blues as a free agent and played his final game in January and is now an assistant general manager. Brodeur's son, also a goalie, was drafted by the Devils in 2013 but is not currently signed with a team.

Ken Daneyko, Scott Stevens and Scott Niedermayer are the only other Devils whose numbers have been retired by the team.

Brodeur was also honored by the Canada Post with a special framed print commemorating his career as part of their Great Canadian Goalies series.

The Devils open their season on Friday against the Winnipeg Jets.
