Four men were arrested and charged early Saturday in the Short Hills mall carjacking that took the life of Toms River native Dustin Friedland last Sunday.

Hanif Thompson, 29, of Irvington and two Newark men, Karif Ford, 31, and Kevin Roberts, 33, were arrested in Newark, authorities said. Bassim Henry, 32, also of Newark, was arrested at a hotel in Easton, PA by an FBI Task Force and federal marshalls.

Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murrary said all four are charged with murder, felony murder, carjacking, conspiracy, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. Bail has been set at $2 million for each defendant.

Dustin Friedland, a Toms River native and an attorney for a Neptune company, was gunned down in the shopping center's parking garage in full view of his wife. The couple had just completed a round of holiday gift-buying.

The 30-year-old's SUV was found the next day in nearby Newark.
