BELMAR - The homeless man whose beating was shown on a YouTube video will be getting a little extra help. The E-Street Shuffle, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band, is hosting a benefit concert tonight for David Ivans. The proceeds will go towards helping Ivans back on his feet and homeless shelters in Monmouth County. It starts tonight at 10 p.m. at 507 Main in Belmar.

 

 

 

CHICAGO – Sears Holding has released a list of 79 of the 120 Sears and Kmart stores it plans to close in 2012 due to poor performance. According to the list no New Jersey stores are slated to shut down.

LACEY - A pickup truck flips over four times on The Garden State Parkway in Lacey Township during an evening rush hour collision. Reports say the truck’s driver sideswiped a Jeep when attempting to change lanes at mile marker 74.3 forcing both vehicles to lose control. The Jeep veered off the road into a grassy shoulder. The driver of the pickup had to be extracted by the forked River fire department and was airlifted the the jersey shore university medical center. State police are asking witnesses to contact the bass river station.

PLUMSTED - Pitbulls owners in Plumsted Township could soon be ordered to muzzle their dogs. Reports say the township’s Animal Control Officer John Klink is planning to ask a judge for a court order mandating residents to muzzle their pit bulls when they’re outside. The move follows two recent pittbull attacks this month that severly injured a toddler and a woman.

LAKEHURST - Fire investigators learn that a Lakehurst home damaged by fire Wednesday had no electricity. Officials believe an unattended candle may have sparked the blaze that leaves 8 family members homeless. A 25 year old man was flown to a burn center as a result. The fire is so far being ruled accidental.
