The fallout continues from Lakewood's poor plowing job as Dept. of Public Works Director Alvin Burdge steps down.

Burdge turned in his resignation to the Township Committee according to the LakewoodScoop.Tony Arrechi is taking over as acting director. Township manager Tom Henshaw told the news website that the committee wishes Burdge well in his retirement.

The resignation came as Lakewood continues to clear its streets of snow from Saturday's blizzard amidst allegations of a sickout by DPW workers. Deputy Mayor Albert Akerman said there may have been "confusion" created over whether or not employees should have reported to work. “We’re trying to find if there was anything malicious done here or not and, if there was then obviously we’ll have no choice but to deal with it harshly. Snow on the streets is dangerous. People should know know for the future not to do anything like this," said Akerman.
