Bruce Rice, 33, was sent to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold following his arrest, with bail set at a full $300,000.

According to information from the office of County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni, Neptune police first arrived at about 10:30 PM, and brought in the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team (MOCERT) and ancillary agencies.

Authorities said that hostage negotiators convinced Rice to surrender. Investigators allegedly found a 12-gauge shotgun and six spent shotgun shells in the dwelling.

Rice is charged with a second-degree count of certain persons not to possess a firearm, third-degree charges of terroristic threats and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree charges of aggravated assault and obstruction.

In addition to the bail terms, Rice was ordered not to return to the scene and to refrain from contact with the victim.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
