28-year-old Jashon Brinson is charged with manslaughter under the strict-liability law for people who make a heroin sale that leads to a drug overdose death.

29-year-old William "Bobber Akers, the son of Seaside Height's Mayor William Akers Sr., died October 16, 2014 of a heroin overdose.

Ocean County Prosecutors believe Brinson supplied the drugs that led to Akers' death. Brinson was arrested in October and charged with heroin possession and drug possession with intent to distribute it.

He was arrested again March 6, 2015 in connection with Akers' death.

Brinson is being held in the Ocean County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Brinson was tied to a death in 2011, when he was found guilty of criminal homicide in connection with a 2010 incident and possessing an illegal weapon in an earlier incident, according to the Asbury Park Press.
