The suspect who held up a Manalapan bank by claiming to have a bomb today is outside the grip of authorities, who have issued surveillance images in the attempt to track him down.

According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni's office, it's not clear whether he was actually armed when he strode in to the Sun National branch on Route 9 at about 12:45 PM this afternoon.

The bank is on the highway's southbound side, between Taylor's Mills Road and Symmes Drive.

The description given to investigators is that of a man between 50 and 60 years of age, white, unshaven, standing about 5'10" and weighing about 185 pounds.

He was clad in sunglasses, a red hooded sweatshirt and black knit cap. Authorities say he left on foot, and the direction he took is unknown.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity is urged to email Manalapan PD Detective Dominic Donatelli, or call him at 732-446-4300 or 732-446-8388.
