Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is calling on an outside group that supports him to edit “inaccuracies” from a film it produced attacking Mitt Romney’s tenure as a venture capitalist.

Gingrich says the Winning Our Future political action committee should either remove the inaccuracies or pull the ad off the air and the Internet entirely.

The group, which is run by Gingrich allies, released a 28-minute film earlier this week criticizing Romney’s time running Bain Capital. Shorter versions are running on television in South Carolina ahead of the Jan. 21 primary.

Gingrich is under pressure from some Republicans and conservatives to scale back his attacks on Romney’s business record.

The former House speaker also called on Romney to tell an outside group supporting him to fix its erroneous ads.

Perry blasts Obama but goes easy on GOP rivals

Rick Perry campaigns in South Carolina.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is training his hottest fire on President Barack Obama rather than his GOP

presidential rivals as he campaigns in coastal South Carolina.

Perry used a light touch Friday as he talked with diners at a packed cafDe near Hilton Head. Perry never mentioned his GOP opponents by name although he outlined his differences with them. He said they’re all either Wall Street insiders or Washington insiders. Perry said he’s the genuine outsider who can change Washington.

Perry accused Obama of spending too heavily on domestic programs while short-changing the military. The South Carolina Republican primary is Jan. 21.

NH primary order of finish still unclear

Three days after New Hampshire’s primary, former Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum are still separated by just a handful of votes behind the three leaders as vote verification continues.

The Associated Press election night count of all 301 precincts had Gingrich ahead of Santorum by 49 votes. The secretary of state’s tally as of Friday had Santorum ahead by 117. But three New Hampshire town officials say the state has their numbers wrong.

Changes in the state count for those three towns would drop Santorum’s lead to 16 votes.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won the GOP primary, with Texas Rep. Ron Paul second and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman third.

Fourth and fifth place probably won’t be determined until the state finishes its certification.
