A little of this and a little of that on a morning that will clearly remind you that winter is just around the corne. Actually it feels like it’s already arrived.

So have you seen and heard the Nissan Sentra commercial that features a driver in white sunglasses tooling around town to the feel-good sounds of the Billy Idol version of “Mony Mony?”  It’s a pretty cool commercial as it features a bunch of people singing along with him, including kids on a school bus.

Only problem with that is those kids were not even born when Idol released his remake of the song in the 1980s.  Of course for those of us old enough we remember the original version done by Tommy James and the Shondells, which rose to #3 on the Billboard charts in 1968.

34 years as a head basketball coach was enough for John MacIntosh, who has decided to step down before the start of what would have been his 10th season at Toms River South.  “Mac” told me he had been contemplating the move for some time before finally making it official and then meeting with his players last week.

Before coming to South he had a very successful 24-year run at Lacey, where he started the program and turned the Lions into a perennial title contender led by players like Chris Fleming, Garrett Gardi and Dan Handerhan. A 1972 graduate of Central Regional, MacIntosh coached his alma mater for one season before moving to Lacey.  While he has stepped down as the Indians basketball coach he will remain at South as a Physical Education teacher and Athletic Coordinator.

The NJSIAA Football Playoffs have reached the semifinal round and without question THE game this weekend will find Brick hosting Jackson Memorial in a Central Jersey Group 4 bracket that features four Shore Conference teams.  This will be the second meeting of the season between the Green Dragons and Jaguars with Brick winning an overtime classic on October 4, a victory that would ultimately give them the Class A South championship.
However it’s Jackson who will come into this game ranked #1 at the shore by virtue of their stunning win over Red Bank Catholic earlier this month.

The Shore Sports Network will broadcast the game on News Talk Radio WOBM 1160 & 1310 AM Friday night with the winner to advance into the sectional finals against either Middletown South or Neptune.  That title game will likely be played at Rutgers on Saturday, December 6th.
