Teens Continue to Text While Driving, Survey Says

Flickr User Inhisgrace

According to a survey conducted for State Farm, just 43% of 16 and 17 year old drivers say they have never texted while driving. That is the same percentage as 2010.

However, 93% of teens ages 14 to 17 agree that a driver will someday get into an accident if he/she regularly texts and drives.

The survey leaves safety advocates wondering if the “danger” message is not getting across to younger drivers. While they may be aware of the potential consequences of texting while driving, they may not believe the worst-case scenario can happen to them.

April is Distracted Driving Month.
