Police arrested 48-year-old Kevin Goode at the Red Roof Inn on Water Street where he resided at around 2 p.m. within an hour of the robbery.

Chief Mike Mastronardy says an investigation reveals that Goode promised the hotel manager early in the day that he would pay $350 dollars for rent that was due and told the manager he would go to the bank and be right back.  Witnesses provided information that led police to the hotel.

Mastronardy says Lieutenant James Harris coordinated patrol units to establish a perimeter around the motel and began a search of the premise by Toms River Police Emergency Services and K-9 units. Goode was arrested without incident on the second floor following a search.

Earlier, Goode allegedly handed a teller a note demanding money at around 1 o’clock and fled with cash on foot towards Irons Street.  Police say there were no injuries to the five employees and three customers in the bank at the time of the incident.

Goode is in the Ocean County Jail on $50,000 bail.
