Winteringham Viilage, the Toms River housing complex where a teen was shot in January, is the site of a heroin arrest following a month-long drug-distribution probe focusing on a specific dwelling, according to township police.

Diana Mendez, 27, listed as residing in the apartments along Route 166, was arrested Tuesday and charged with three related counts of heroin and drug paraphernalia possession.

Her bail was set at $20,000, with no option for release on payment of 10 percent.

According to police, a warrant search of Mendez's residence yielded 446 wax folds of heroin, drug-related items and more than $1,000 cash.

The man suspected of shooting and injuring a 19-year-old in the complex parking lot in the first week of this year, Stephon Wilmot of Toms River, remains at large and faces an attempted-murder charge if and when he is captured.
