The busy everyday lives many adults are accompanied with may often wear them down or maybe their just looking for some time away to relax. Summer camps aren't just for kids, but there seems to be interest in a number of adult themed venues.

"A lot of people have grown up going to summer camps myself included," said Shannon Leonard, Marketing Director and weekend counselor at Club Getaway in Connecticut. "It was always kind of...you look back on those times...'God they were so fun I wish I could do it again' and now people have the opportunity to."

Leonard adds even adults who have no prior experience going to a camp like the ones often portrayed in movies are encouraged to attend.

"It's time for adults to get to enjoy the thrill of summer camp" Leonard adds. "Especially now that you have the privileges of being an adult, you have a bit more freedom without all those bunk checks and early curfews."

While an alternative to maybe heading to the beach or a typical vacation spot during the summer maybe it is the adult camp calling your name.

"Lot's of our campers come up all on their own and leave with a whole new pack of friends," said Leonard.

Club Getaway in Connecticut sees a wide age range on the weekends as well.

"Most of our campers are between the ages of 28-45 however we have hosts campers as young as 21 and as experienced as 79," said Leonard.

Certain age ranges like 20's to 30's, 40's and 50's or even 60's and 70's can or choose to do a list of activities designed specifically for them, but Leonard says activities are up for all to try, maybe even zip-lining.

"Our schedule is pretty eclectic, so for every kind of person you can spend the whole day going to fitness classes, a yoga class...a boot-camp class" said Leonard. "You can spend the day doing the big social activities."

Hiking and biking and many other outdoor activities await any adult looking to get away for a week or a weekend here in New Jersey or anywhere else in the United States.

The typical camper however isn't just one specific group of people at Club Getaway or anywhere.

"We have campers from all over, all age groups, and professions but at camp none of that matters," said Leonard. "We have a couple different kind of weekends...we have our sports, fun and adventure weekend (and) young pros which is twenties and thirties."

She adds generally people in that younger group are fresh out of college or maybe on their first job and looking to get away for a while.

"We offer 9 weekends over the summer a few of which cater to different markets, Young Pros (20s-30s), J Weekend (Jewish Professionals), and Sports Fun & Adventure (for everyone)," said Leonard.

Not all camps are a 'rough it' experience with many nowadays being more like home.

"The camp I grew up to, our cabins were very bare bones," said Leonard. "Here you have a memory foam mattress, AC, Heat, en suite bathrooms with a shower, sink and toilet."

These cabins seem to fall between not quite rough and not a hotel but a family style atmosphere where you make new friends or talk about the day's activities for bragging rights perhaps.

Live entertainment at the camp's club or bar is a popular night venue where campers can get dressed up and have a fun time.

If your still not convinced on whether you should attend an adult summer camp or if your on a tight budget at home, this could be a good way to relieve stress.

"What I always tell people is you need a new bucket list after your weekend at adult summer camp," said Leonard. "You're going to be doing so many activities that you didn't even know existed. (It's) definitely a good way to break the mold."

However no matter what you choose to do, attending adult summer camp may be a fine way to spend part of your time away.

"Summer is all about having fun and experiencing new things and being outside," said Leonard. "We have all of that wrapped up into one, plus good food, great people and fun parties."
