Ronald Reiser, 48, is charged with burglary, theft, tampering with evidence and possession of burglary tools, according to township police. He was placed in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of a full $40,000 bail set by Municipal Judge Robert Lepore.

According to police, a Lions Head Boulevard South resident reported a suspicious male loitering in the yard of a nearby house and possibly trying to break in on Sunday, August 30 at about 1 PM.

The caller informed police that the individual, later identified as Reiser, approached a second house and entered it with a resident of that home.

Officer Robert Scelfo and Sergeant Art Rivaldo, found signs of an attempted break-in at the house described in the original call, and found Reiser inside the other, holding a Casio digital camera that had been on the kitchen table, police said.

Police added that Reiser was unarmed.
