Toms River Pedestrian Accident Turns Fatal
The North Jersey 50-year-old run down on Route 37 Thursday afternoon had died from his injuries.
New information from Toms River police identify him as Trent Peluso, Jr., of North Bergen. He was hit while crossing the state highway near Clifton Avenue at about 5:30 PM.
According to Chief Mike Mastronardy, Peluso had been rooming in the Holiday Inn near the intersection since being driven out of his Seaside Park home by Superstorm Sandy.
Peluso died later at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
The driver of the Hyundai involved, John Syvarth, 77, of the township, was unhurt, say police.
An investigation continues by Toms River Traffic Safety Officer Brian Doyle and members of the Ocean County Sheriff’s and Prosecutor’s staffs.
