This week I was reminded than someone can be taken away in a moment.

At 6 a.m. this morning, my phone rang and it was my mother saying her legs were swollen.

I told her call the paramedics and I'll meet her at the hospital. As my mom was laying in that bed my life flashed before my eyes.

My mom was the cool mom in the neighborhood , my mom was the beautiful mom (all the boys loved her ) my mom was active, my mom was a wild mom, my mom was a mom of the sixties and early 70s ( read between the lines ).

My mom NEVER left my side when I had cancer, my mom was there when I came home and said I was going to have a baby and she responded: "then you'll live with me so I can help you." My mom ALWAYS put me first and honestly I was NOT the perfect daughter.

Right up until today she's been there, without hesitation. As all this flashed before my eyes, I thought of this advice: If you are still fortunate to have a woman in your life that was as great as mine was and is, thank her because you might not be able to one day ! Oh and thank God it was only edema!
