I have read in Men’s Health magazine that women find men who cook attractive. Some even say sexy.

That clearly does not do me any good because my wife will tell you that I am useless in the kitchen unless you count picking up the phone and ordering take out useful. Some results from the magazine that you men (and women) might find interesting:

• 82% of men say they savor their time spent cooking in the kitchen.
• Nearly half insist that a grill is their favorite cooking tool and I would agree with that.
• 37% say even when the temperature outside is below freezing they will still cook on the grill.
• 35% of men identify their cooking style as basically “plain and simple.”
• 71% say they have no problem pouring themselves a bowl of cereal for dinner. I feel the same way about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
• 50% of men secretly think their moms are better cooks than their spouses. I am not among that group. My wife is a tremendous cook and baker.

In recent years food shows have become very popular and I am among the 62% of men who regularly watch them. In our house the Food Network is the fallback channel to watch when there is nothing special on TV. The most popular shows are Chopped, Good Eats, Ace of Cakes, Iron Chef America and The Next Food Network Star.

However my personal favorites are Restaurant: Impossible and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. How good does Guy Fieri have it?

Interestingly, 30% of guys who watch food shows say they do so for the females who do the cooking. Topping the list for many is Giada De Laurentis whose Giada at Home is quiet popular in part because the 43-year old is as hot as her food.

Right up there has to be Padma Lakshmi, who hosts Top Chef which is on the Bravo network. The late Julia Child did not make any lists.
