The death of 17-year-old Jared Marchiano of Bayville is determined to be accidental, and the cause is asphyxiation by the 650-pound stone slab that pinned him during the weekend in Berkeley Township, according to the Ocean County Medical Examiner.

The Central Regional student's family and friends prepare to take him to his final resting place with a viewing tomorrow, and funeral Thursday, in Toms River.

According to information from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Marchiano was alone when he entered the grounds of Stone N Counters South LLC on Hickory Lane in Bayville. He came into contact with the granite slab that dislodged and trapped him, investigators said.

Authorities say they spoke with everyone who had interaction with the teen up until he was last seen alive, at about 8:30 PM on Friday, June 19. A driver spotted him the following morning at about 6:40 AM and called Berkeley Township police.
